Security and Counter-Drone at the Commercial UAV Expo

September 12th, 2022

Last week's Commercial UAV Expo was an opportunity for the Commercial UAV community to come together, learn from one another, and help move the drone industry forward to an exciting future. The sessions shared observations, predictions, and concepts from a variety of industry experts. Many sessions focused on the trends and innovations of the drone industry, but there was also a focus on the challenges that drones can present.

SkySafe's CEO, Grant Jordan, led a panel discussion on Security and Counter-Drone Technology at the Expo. The panel consisted of Tonya Coultas from the Federal Aviation Administration, Brent Cotton from Department of Homeland Security, and Kevin Jinks from the Department of Justice. The well-attended session focused on the problems and harm drones are causing and how the federal government is addressing these challenges. While, unfortunately, government policies have been slow to move forward, the panel did share various policies under consideration and what they would mean for the industry.
